William Buck is pleased to announce that Jeffrey Luckins, Director, Audit and Assurance, has been appointed as Victorian State Council Chair of the Governance Institute of Australia.
The Governance Institute of Australia, with over 43,000 members is a national association advocating for a community of governance and risk management professionals from the listed, unlisted and not-for-profit sectors. Its mission is to drive better governance in all organisations, which will in turn create a stronger, better society.
Jeffrey has served on the Victorian State Council since 2015, been a regular guest presenter in the Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance for accounting, auditing, external financial reporting and corporate fundraising and been the Convener of the Victorian Company Secretaries Discussion Group since 2020.
Jeffrey’s appointment will primarily require him to lead a Council of 18 people from a diverse cross section of industries and professional skill sets to promote the educational and membership opportunities offered by the Governance Institute, and to assist in advocacy and promotion of good governance in our communities.
As an auditor, Jeffrey works with company secretaries daily and understands their unique role in governance, leadership, risk and culture, being conduits between the Board and the executive.
“Chairing the Victorian State Council of the Governance Institute in 2023, my clear purpose will be advancing the role of company secretaries, generating thought leadership and assisting them to perform their duties,” said Jeffrey.
Lindsay Holloway, Managing Director of William Buck in Victoria congratulated Jeffrey on his dedication to actively supporting post graduate education and collaboration among professional membership bodies and industry sectors, especially in the capital markets where Chartered Secretaries conduct key roles in the governance of their organisations.
“Jeffrey has previously held senior roles at CPA Australia, including as Chair of the External Reporting Centre of Excellence. This new role is a continuation of his dedication to and leadership in the professional services environment,” said Lindsay.
Jeffrey has considerable experience as a thought leader, writer and presenter at conferences and events.
He has been appointed Victorian State Council Chair of the Governance Institute of Australia for a two-year term.
