What is it?
If you are undertaking a project to develop and commercialise new or improved products or manufacturing processes related to the Recycling & Clean Energy sector, you could be eligible to apply for MMI grant funding under the following streams:
- The Manufacturing Translation Stream provides businesses with funding to support projects that translate high quality research into commercial outcomes and support businesses to scale-up and be more competitive and resilient.
- The Manufacturing Integration Stream supports projects that integrate Australian businesses into domestic and international value chains, propelling their goods and services into new markets.
What is available?
Co-funding grants of between $1 million and $20 million are available to cover up to 50% of eligible project expenditure. Your eligible project expenditure must be at least $2 million to apply for the minimum funding amount.
What are the eligibility criteria?
You must:
- Be a trading entity incorporated in Australia, have an ABN, be registered for GST, and be non-tax exempt.
- Have a minimum of $2 million in eligible project expenditure and be able to provide evidence that you can meet the costs of your project not covered by grant funding.
- Demonstrate that your project aligns with the Recycling & Clean Energy National Manufacturing Priority – projects that may qualify include:
- Design and commercialisation of manufactured products or processes that:
- Facilitate cleaner feedstocks for remanufacturing, such as new product design, smart sorting and automation technologies, feedstock recycling or e-waste processing technologies;
- Enable clean energy in large industrial systems, such as electrolysers, high-voltage direct current cabling, thermal energy systems or modularised renewables;
- Enable distributed clean energy systems, such as microgrids, advanced inverters, EV charging equipment and next-generation PV modules
- Commercialisation of products that use recycled feedstocks such as plastic, e-waste or organic waste
- Commercialisation of battery technologies, components or precursors, such as for electric vehicles or stationery energy storage
- Commercialisation of products that use clean energy as an input, such as ‘greener’ steel or other low carbon products
- Commercialisation of recycling technologies for end-of-life clean energy equipment such as solar modules, wind turbines or batteries
