A long and proud history
1946 – Giles & Giles Pty was founded
The firm commenced with partners Ken & Mawson Giles, then known as Giles & Giles Pty.
1996 – Joined the William Buck Group
Giles & Giles joins the William Buck Group, renaming from Giles & Giles to William Buck, a significant turning point for the firm joining a national network.
2004 – Merged with Harmer & Associates
Chris Gebhardt and his team joined William Buck to provide a broader service offering to clients. The addition fit perfectly with the strategy of having a young progressive team enabling William Buck to respond rapidly to the clients changing needs.
An era of sustained growth
2008 – William Buck moves into the CBD
After outgrowing the Greenhill Road premises, William Buck Adelaide moved into the Victoria Square precinct at 211 Victoria Square, to be closer to business partners and planned expansion.
2009 – Merged with Moore Stephens Adelaide
To add scale to the firm and the wealth advisory division William Buck Adelaide merged with Moore Stephens. Partners John Lampard and Andrew Craig and their team joined William Buck.
2011 – Merged with MSI Tilley Adelaide
MSI Tilley Adelaide, a well-respected audit firm, merged with William Buck to increase the size of the audit division. Partners Grant Wilson, Dean Spencer and Ben Trengove and staff joined William Buck.
2012 – Merged with Lewis Richmond
In 2012 Lewis Richmond partner Terry Lewis, and his staff joined William Buck boosting William Buck Adelaide’s business advisory and tax capability.
2014 – Flood Allen Acquisition
William Buck Adelaide acquires small accounting practice Flood Allen, following the retirement of the principal owner of the practice, David Flood.
2017 – Merged with SP Accountants
William Buck further strengthens its position as leaders in the South Australian mid-market following a merger with boutique accounting firm, SP Accountants and Business Advisors. The merger continues William Buck’s strong and sustained strategic growth, with the firm doubling in size over the last decade and most importantly, adding new services and expertise into the business.
2019 – Merged with Tregloans
Tregloans’ two partners Michael Fairlie and Luciana Larkin, and their team merged with William Buck in 2019. This further strengthened William Buck’s reputation as a leading provider of specialist services to – mid-market businesses and high net worth individuals.
2020 – Merged with MacKenzie Advisory
Boutique firm MacKenzie Advisory partner Scott MacKenzie and staff joined William Buck. In addition to the accounting practice, MacKenzie Managed Funds specialise in administration services for wholesale and retail managed funds with over $1.17 billion currently under management, complementing William Buck’s services in this area.
