William Buck announces new scholarship with Western Sydney University

By William Buck

William Buck is proud to announce the establishment of an Indigenous scholarship for a talented Western Sydney University student through the William Buck Foundation.

The scholarship is aimed at providing financial assistance to an Indigenous student pursuing a course within the University’s School of Business. The decision to establish this scholarship stems from our deeprooted commitment to fostering inclusivity and making a positive impact on the community.

Greg Travers, Managing Director for William Buck New South Wales said it was an honour for the firm to contribute to building stronger connections between Indigenous and business communities.

“Western Sydney University’s vision and values align with our own. We believe in the power of education to provide opportunities that transform lives, and this scholarship is a tangible way for us to support Indigenous communities and drive positive change,” said Greg.

“We believe that the benefits of receiving a scholarship extend far beyond the university years, empowering students with confidence as they embark on their professional journeys and contribute to society at large”.

With a large Indigenous population and a commitment to transformative philanthropy, the University provides an ideal platform for initiatives like this to thrive.

Professor Michelle Trudgett, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Leadership) at Western Sydney University, said the scholarship aligns with the University’s dedication to accessible education and its efforts to promote Indigenous excellence and leadership within higher education.

“Scholarships like these are life-changing for our Indigenous students with the impact carrying forward for generations to come.

“We thank the William Buck Foundation for their kindness in establishing this wonderful new scholarship that we look forward to awarding, and for their generosity in supporting the Indigenous strategy at Western Sydney University,” said Professor Trudgett.

We eagerly look forward to the awarding of the scholarship and beginning this partnership with Western Sydney University.
