William Buck expands into the ACT in strategic merger with Link Capital Partners

By William Buck

Leading mid-tier accounting firm William Buck has announced its expansion into Canberra through a strategic merger with Link Capital Partners. This move, which will take effect on 1 July 2024, enables William Buck to serve clients in Australia’s capital, solidifying its presence as a premier mid-tier firm with comprehensive national coverage and technical expertise.

It allows William Buck to fill a noticeable gap in the Canberra market for a fully integrated firm with a focus on the middle market. By bringing a full suite of technical services and deep industry experience, William Buck aims to support local businesses and drive economic growth in the region.

An expansion to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) also allows William Buck to better assist government agencies. William Buck was recently appointed to the panel of the Australian National Audit Office, enabling the firm to build on its existing government practice.

Greg Travers, Managing Partner – William Buck NSW and Board member of the William Buck Group said this merger represents a significant milestone for the firm.

“Link Capital is a firm distinguished by its robust practices and strong relationships in the ACT. This merger lays a solid foundation for growth, and we plan to strategically expand our expertise to better serve clients in the region,” said Mr Travers.

“With our optimal size and footprint, we’re also well-equipped to work with government agencies, assisting them in promoting transparency and accountability in their use of public resources.

“Utilising our mid-market expertise and commercial approach, we are set to offer a wide range of valuable services including audit and tax advice.”

Link Capital Partners, known for its client-centric style, shares the same values as William Buck.

Its leadership group, Angus Kenyon, Ben Weber and Domenic De Marco, will join William Buck as Partners, bringing with them their entire team.

“We’re excited about our future and remain committed to providing an exceptional experience to our clients and people. Joining William Buck enables us to deliver a broader range of services and deeper technical knowledge with the same personalised approach that our clients have come to expect,” said Mr Kenyon.

William Buck’s expansion into Canberra represents its fifth merger in five years as the firm continues a growth trajectory that’s achieved both organically and through merger opportunities.
