Armagh Student Awarded 2026 William Buck Regional Scholarship

By William Buck

William Buck is thrilled to announce that Jack Slattery, from Armagh, South Australia, is the recipient of the 2026 William Buck Regional Scholarship, an initiative designed to support students from regional South Australia in pursuing tertiary education in accounting and finance related fields.

Jack, a boarder graduate of Prince Alfred College, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Financial Planning, at Adelaide University.

Jack’s exceptional aptitude for numbers, his talent for collaborative problem-solving and his enthusiasm for teamwork and learning distinguished him during the scholarship selection process.

As a member of a close-knit rural community, Jack has also consistently demonstrated his commitment to giving back. His dedication is reflected in the extensive time he has spent mentoring and supporting younger students in his community. Outside of his academic pursuits, Jack is an active sportsman and currently plays for the Woodville West Torrens Football Club.

Throughout the scholarship, Jack will be supported by his mentor Andrew Barlow, Partner and Head of Wealth Advisory and buddy Josh Pullman, Review Paraplanner, who will provide ongoing career guidance and personal support throughout the scholarship period.

“We are delighted to announce Jack Slattery as the recipient of the 2026 William Buck Regional Scholarship and to celebrate the second year of this important initiative. Supporting talented students from regional South Australia aligns closely with our commitment to giving back to the communities that have supported us.

This scholarship not only eases the financial pressures of relocating for study but also provides mentorship and networking opportunities, setting recipients on a strong trajectory toward a successful career. It’s inspiring to see the calibre of applicants each year and we are proud to play a role in fostering the next generation of leaders in accounting and finance,” said Adrian Chugg, Managing Partner William Buck Adelaide.

Recognising Outstanding Finalists

While the scholarship was awarded to Jack, the two remaining finalists, Aviril McIntosh from Alford and Tyson Rosenzweig from Keith, both demonstrated exceptional potential during the selection process. In recognition of this, William Buck has extended both finalists:

  • An invitation to intern with William Buck in 2027, a highly sought-after opportunity that attracts more than 200 applications each year
  • Ongoing mentorship to further support their professional development and keep them connected with the William Buck community

With one-third of William Buck’s Adelaide partners originating from country South Australia, and many clients based in regional areas, the scholarship reflects the firm’s commitment to supporting the communities that have supported them.

The scholarship is valued at $15,000 and is designed to help alleviate the financial pressures associated with relocating for study, while also offering an internship and valuable industry mentorship.
