“Immersing myself in my client’s business and becoming part of their team is essential to unlocking the value I can add.”

James Fox

Partner, Business Advisory

James is a Partner and Chartered Accountant in William Buck’s Business Advisory team in Sydney, with over 16 years’ experience advising privately owned and mid-market businesses across NSW and the ACT.

James works closely with business owners and CFOs to move beyond compliance and focus on the financial levers that drive performance — including cash flow, working capital, profitability, financing and long-term wealth planning.

He has an increasing focus on retail and wholesale businesses in the $20m to $100m+ range, where he supports clients on managing margin pressure, improving inventory and supplier terms, strengthening cash conversion cycles, and preparing for growth, succession and exit.

James takes a whole-of-group approach, working across complex business structures to ensure tax advisory, compliance, commercial and wealth outcomes are aligned. His approach is partner-led, relationship-driven and commercially focused — acting as part of the client’s team, not just an external adviser.
